ROLE

Map recreation, 3D model creation

BRIEF

For this project, we partnered with Brown Studio Architecture as well as community partners in Montgomery, Alabama to develop a collection of fabricated works to be included in a museum located at the Mount Zion AME Zion Church. The goal of my project was to illustrate the evolution of the Peacock Tract area of Montgomery, an influential historic area with strong ties to the Modern Civil Rights Movement. Mount Zion AME Zion Church is a significant historical site where the Montgomery Improvement Association was
organized on December 5th, 1955. It is also where Dr. Martin Luther King became president of the organization and leader of the Modern Civil Rights Movement.

RESULT

I was given a historical building that played a role in the Modern Civil Rights Movement to research and learn more about its significance within the Peacock Tract. I was then tasked with recreating the school on Rhino and creating an “unfolded” model as a graphic representation of prominent features of the building. Finally, I recreated a series of maps highlighting different eras of Montgomery, including a 3D model of the Peacock Tract area before highways were put into place. The model includes accurate topography by using a LIDAR scan of the area in AutoCAD.
